**Haruki Kurosawa** (黒澤 治樹, *Kurosawa Haruki*; born 26 September 1977[1] in [Shizuoka Prefecture](/source/Shizuoka_Prefecture)) is a [Japanese](/source/Japanese_people) racing driver. He is the [2018 Super GT – GT300](/source/2018_Super_GT_Series) champion, having won it with [LEON Racing](/source/LEON_Racing), where he currently serves as its team director.

## Early career

Kurosawa took up motorcycle racing at an early age, graduating from the SRS-J (Suzuka Racing School Junior; now SRS-Moto) and competing in motocross and pocket bikes competitions near Mount Fuji.[2] After graduating from SRS-J, Kurosawa began karting, most notably racing in the 1996 All-Japan Karting Championship.[3]

Graduating from SRS-F at the end of 1996, Kurosawa competed in three [Japanese Formula 3](/source/Japanese_Formula_3_Championship) races for [Nakajima Racing](/source/Nakajima_Racing), scoring a point at [Sendai](/source/Sendai_Hi-Land_Raceway),[4] before moving to the [British Formula Three Championship](/source/1997_British_Formula_Three_Championship) for 1997.

Following a difficult year in England where he scored just a lone point at [Pembrey](/source/Pembrey_Circuit),[5] Kurosawa returned to the [Japanese Formula 3 Championship](/source/Japanese_Formula_3_Championship) for 1998.[6] Scoring one podium in his two years with Lian Racing at [Tsukuba](/source/Tsukuba_Circuit) in 1999,[7] Kurosawa moved to [TOM'S](/source/TOM'S) for 2000, taking his only win at [Motegi](/source/Mobility_Resort_Motegi) and scoring a second-place finish at [Sugo](/source/Sportsland_Sugo) on his way to sixth in the points.[8][9]

## GT career

### JGTC/Super GT debut and early success (2002–2003, 2005–2011)

Kurosawa made his [JGTC](/source/All_Japan_Grand_Touring_Car_Championship) debut in 2002 for Team Take One,[10] competing in nine races in GT500 between 2002 and 2003 before switching to GT300 for the 2003 finale at [Suzuka](/source/Suzuka_International_Racing_Course), where he finished third for SigmaTech Racing.[11]

Returning to GT300 competition in 2005, Kurosawa joined [M-TEC](/source/Mugen_Motorsports) alongside Shinya Hosokawa for his first full season in the newly-rebranded [Super GT Series](/source/Super_GT). Starting off the season with a podium at [Okayama](/source/Okayama_International_Circuit),[12] Kurosawa won both races at the newly-rebuilt [Fuji](/source/Fuji_Speedway) and scored two further second-places to end the season runner-up in points.[13][14][15]

Following a year mostly spent in Europe, Kurosawa raced in the last five races of the [2006 Super GT](/source/2006_Super_GT_Series) season for [R&D Sport](/source/R%26D_Sport), taking the team's second podium of the season with a third-place finish at [Motegi](/source/Mobility_Resort_Motegi).[16]

Kurosawa stayed with [R&D Sport](/source/R%26D_Sport) for [2007](/source/2007_Super_GT_Series) alongside [Shinsuke Shibahara](/source/Shinsuke_Shibahara). The duo won at [Autopolis](/source/Autopolis) and scored further podiums at [Suzuka](/source/Suzuka_International_Racing_Course) and [Motegi](/source/Mobility_Resort_Motegi) to finish third in the standings.[17][18][19]

Staying with [R&D Sport](/source/R%26D_Sport) for a third season, Kurosawa scored only one podium, a second-place at the season-finale at [Fuji](/source/Fuji_Speedway), to finish 13th in points before leaving the team at season's end.[20]

After leaving [R&D Sport](/source/R%26D_Sport), Kurosawa first joined [Team Taisan](/source/Team_Taisan) for 2009,[21] before moving to Team Mach for the following two years.[22] Despite switching teams, Kurosawa wasn't able to score a podium in the three years following his stint at R&D Sport, only taking two fourth places at [Fuji](/source/Fuji_Speedway) in 2009 and [Suzuka](/source/Suzuka_International_Racing_Course) in 2010 as his best results.[23][24]

### Family-run LEON Racing and Super Taikyu return (2012–present)

Leaving Team Mach at the end of 2011, Kurosawa joined [LEON Racing](/source/LEON_Racing) for 2012, a team created along with his father [Motoharu](/source/Motoharu_Kurosawa) which also partnered with [Hironori Takeuchi](/source/Hironori_Takeuchi)'s SHIFT Team for 2012.[25] Alongside Takeuchi, Kurosawa scored LEON's first podium in GT300 at [SUGO](/source/Sportsland_SUGO) by finishing second.[26]

With Takeuchi and Shift leaving after 2012, Kurosawa was joined by Masanobu Kato for the first two rounds of 2013, before he was replaced by Tsubasa Kurosawa for the rest of the season.[27] The Kurosawa brothers scored their first podium together at the 250 km race at [Suzuka](/source/Suzuka_International_Racing_Course) along with [Akihiko Nakaya](/source/Akihiko_Nakaya), who joined them as the team's third driver.[28]

In 2014, Kurosawa was mainly joined by his brother Tsubasa, with whom he scored a podium at [Sugo](/source/Sportsland_SUGO), but was also joined by Kyosuke Mineo and [Naoya Gamou](/source/Naoya_Gamou), helping Kurosawa to finish ninth in points.[29] With Gamou and Kurosawa returning for 2015,[30] the pair scored a lone podium at [Fuji](/source/Fuji_Speedway) to finish ninth in points for the second season in a row.[31]

For 2016, [LEON Racing](/source/LEON_Racing) switched to the [Mercedes-AMG GT](/source/Mercedes-AMG_GT#AMG_GT3_(2015–2019)) and with Kurosawa and Gamou returning, they won the opening race of the season at [Okayama](/source/Okayama_International_Circuit) to give the car and the team their first win in the Super GT.[32]

Staying with [LEON Racing](/source/LEON_Racing) for 2017,[33] Kurosawa started the season with a podium at [Okayama](/source/Okayama_International_Circuit) and won two of the final three races to finish runner-up in the GT300 standings.[34][35]

Having come close to the GT300 championship the year prior, Kurosawa stayed with [LEON Racing](/source/LEON_Racing) for 2018.[36] Finishing out of the top five only twice in the eight-race season, Kurosawa overcame a 12-point deficit to take the GT300 title by winning the season-ending race at [Motegi](/source/Mobility_Resort_Motegi).[37]

Returning to [LEON Racing](/source/LEON_Racing) for 2019,[38] Kurosawa finished third in [Buriram](/source/Buriram_International_Circuit),[39] but pulled out of the season ahead of the [Autopolis](/source/Autopolis) round, giving [Togo Suganami](/source/Togo_Suganami) his debut in the series.[40]

In 2022, Kurosawa returned to [Super Taikyu](/source/Super_Taikyu), joining Martin Berry's Grid Motorsport in the ST-X class.[41] Kurosawa won at [Sugo](/source/Sportsland_Sugo) in what would turn out to be his penultimate race in the series.[42] Following various one-off appearances for LEON Racing in Super GT across the following three years, Kurosawa joined [Team YUK Hirata-G](/source/K2_R%26D) to race in the ST-Z class of the [2026 Super Taikyu Series](/source/2026_Super_Taikyu_Series).[43]

Kurosawa was set to return to the [24 Hours of Le Mans](/source/2011_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans) in 2011 for [Greaves Motorsport](/source/Greaves_Motorsport), but withdrew shortly after the [Tōhoku earthquake](/source/2011_T%C5%8Dhoku_earthquake_and_tsunami).[52] In 2012, Kurosawa returned to [Le Mans](/source/2012_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans), racing for [Jota](/source/Jota_Sport) in the LMP2 class.[53][54]

Having not raced in prototypes since 2012, Kurosawa competed in the [2019–20 Asian Le Mans Series](/source/2019%E2%80%9320_Asian_Le_Mans_Series) alongside [Shaun Thong](/source/Shaun_Thong) for K2 Uchino Racing in the LMP2 class.[55] In the four race season, Kurosawa sat out the second round on health-related matters,[56] and ended the season with a podium at the season-ending race in [Buriram](/source/Buriram_International_Circuit).[57]
