'''Hartforth''' is a small village in the county of [North Yorkshire](/source/North_Yorkshire), England. The village is situated approximately {{convert|9|mi|km|0}} south-west from the [market town](/source/market_town) of [Darlington](/source/Darlington), and is part of the [civil parish](/source/List_of_civil_parishes_in_North_Yorkshire) of [Gilling with Hartforth and Sedbury](/source/Gilling_with_Hartforth_and_Sedbury).  The population was 558 at the 2021 census.

From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the district of [Richmondshire](/source/Richmondshire), it is now administered by the unitary [North Yorkshire Council](/source/North_Yorkshire_Council).

[Hartforth Hall](/source/Hartforth_Hall) is a Grade II* [listed](/source/listed_building) country house. It was built in 1744 for William Cradock of Gilling, who had bought the manor of Hartforth in 1720. Additions were made in 1792 and c.&nbsp;1900.<ref>{{NHLE|num=1131933|desc=Hartforth Hall|accessdate=6 December 2013}}</ref>
