# Harry Wardell

**Henry John Wardell** (1890–1972) was a notable New Zealand pastoralist, businessman and wool industry leader. He was born in [Dunedin](/source/Dunedin), New Zealand, in 1890.[1]

In the [1960 New Year Honours](/source/1960_New_Year_Honours_(New_Zealand)), Wardell was appointed a [Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George](/source/Companion_of_the_Order_of_St_Michael_and_St_George), in recognition of his service as chairman of the [New Zealand Wool Board](/source/New_Zealand_Wool_Board).[2]
