**Harry Semels** (November 20, 1887 – March 2, 1946)[1] was an American [film actor](/source/Film_actor). He appeared in over 315 films between 1917 and 1946.[2]

## Career

Semels made his film debut in 1917. He appeared in several [Three Stooges](/source/Three_Stooges) shorts for [Columbia Pictures](/source/Columbia_Pictures) including *[Disorder in the Court](/source/Disorder_in_the_Court)*, *[Wee Wee Monsieur](/source/Wee_Wee_Monsieur)* and *[Three Little Sew and Sews](/source/Three_Little_Sew_and_Sews)*. He also appeared in feature films like *[Road to Morocco](/source/Road_to_Morocco)*, *[The Princess and the Pirate](/source/The_Princess_and_the_Pirate)* and *[The Kid from Brooklyn](/source/The_Kid_from_Brooklyn)*. A versatile [character actor](/source/Character_actor), Semels was often cast as villains, waiters, lawyers and soldiers.

## Personal life

Semels was Jewish and had two children, Ruth and David, who was killed in action during [World War II](/source/World_War_II).[3]

## Death

Semels died of a [heart attack](/source/Myocardial_infarction) on March 2, 1946, in [Hollywood](/source/Hollywood%2C_Los_Angeles), [California](/source/California). He was 58 years old.[4]
