He played professional football in the [All-America Football Conference](/source/All-America_Football_Conference) (AAFC) for the [New York Yankees](/source/New_York_Yankees_(AAFC)) in 1946 and 1947 and for the [Chicago Cardinals](/source/Chicago_Cardinals) and [Brooklyn Dodgers](/source/Brooklyn_Dodgers_(NFL)) in 1948.
