# Harold Thuringer

**Harold Thuringer** (born October 21, 1934) is a former Canadian politician who represented [Notre-Dame-de-Grâce](/source/Notre-Dame-de-Gr%C3%A2ce_(provincial_electoral_district)) in the [National Assembly of Quebec](/source/National_Assembly_of_Quebec) from 1987 to 1989.

## Early life

Thuringer was born in [Vibank](/source/Vibank,_Saskatchewan), [Saskatchewan](/source/Saskatchewan).[1]

## Professional career

A [social worker](/source/Social_worker),[2] Thuringer was elected to the legislature in a [by-election](/source/By-election) in 1987, following the resignation of [Reed Scowen](/source/Reed_Scowen).[3] He was defeated in the [1989 election](/source/1989_Quebec_general_election) by [Gordon Atkinson](/source/Gordon_Atkinson_(Canadian_politician)) of the [Equality Party](/source/Equality_Party_(Quebec)).[4]
