**Harivarma** c. 542 was king from [Kadamba dynasty](/source/Kadamba_dynasty) and son of [Ravivarma](/source/Ravivarma_of_Kadamba). Harivarma made generous donations to support [Jainism](/source/Jainism) and its rituals.[1][2][3]

## History

### Personal life

Harivarma moved his capital from [Kolar, Karnataka](/source/Kolar,_Karnataka) to [Talakad](/source/Talakad).[4] He was the last known ruler of the original [Banavasi](/source/Banavasi) branch of the Kadamba dynasty. His reign marked the decline of this line, as power in Banavasi later passed to the [Triparvata](/source/Triparvata) branch. [Krishnavarma II](/source/Krishnavarma_II) of that branch defeated Harivarma and brought Banavasi back under his family’s control.[2]: 738
