**Harimau Muda A** was the **Malaysia under-22 national football team**, representing [Malaysia](/source/Malaysia) in international [football](/source/Football_(soccer)) competitions such as the [AFC U-22 Asian Cup](/source/AFC_U-22_Asian_Cup), [Champions Youth Cup](/source/Champions_Youth_Cup) as well as other under-22 international football tournaments. It was managed by the [Football Association of Malaysia](/source/Football_Association_of_Malaysia). The squad was the feeder team for [Malaysia U-23](/source/Malaysia_national_under-23_football_team).[1] On 25 November 2015, it was confirmed that Harimau Muda A, [Harimau Muda B](/source/Harimau_Muda_B), and [Harimau Muda C](/source/Harimau_Muda_C) were disbanded.[2][3] Harimau Muda A last competed in the [National Premier Leagues Queensland](/source/National_Premier_Leagues_Queensland),[4][5][6] having earlier participated in the [S.League](/source/S.League).[7]

## History

On 19 October 2007, the FAM decided to include Malaysia U-21 as one of the team in [2007–08 Premier League Malaysia](/source/2007%E2%80%9308_Premier_League_Malaysia) known as *Harimau Muda* (The Young Tigers).[8] During the 2010 season, Harimau Muda A went to a training camp in [Zlaté Moravce](/source/Zlat%C3%A9_Moravce), [Slovakia](/source/Slovakia). After the stint in Slovakia, Harimau Muda A joined the [2011 Super League Malaysia](/source/2011_Super_League_Malaysia) replacing [KL PLUS FC](/source/PLUS_FC), finishing at 5th place.

For the 2012 season, Harimau Muda A swapped places with the [Young Lions](/source/Young_Lions_(Singapore_football_team)) of [Singapore](/source/Football_Association_of_Singapore), joining the [S. League](/source/S._League).[9] Harimau Muda B will continue to participate in the [Malaysia Premier League](/source/Malaysia_Premier_League). For the [2012 S. League](/source/2012_S._League) season, Harimau Muda A continued to use their training centre at [Wisma FAM](/source/Wisma_FAM). However, for the league matches they were based at the [Yishun Stadium](/source/Yishun_Stadium).
