# Hardy Point

**Hardy Point** ([59°25′S 27°4′W](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=59_25_S_27_4_W)) is the western point of [Bellingshausen Island](/source/Bellingshausen_Island) in the [South Sandwich Islands](/source/South_Sandwich_Islands). It was charted in 1930 by [Discovery Investigations](/source/Discovery_Investigations) personnel on the *[Discovery II](/source/RRS_Discovery_II)*, who named it for [Alister C. Hardy](/source/Alister_C._Hardy), a member of the zoological staff of the [Discovery Committee](/source/Discovery_Committee), 1924–28, and professor of zoology at [University College Hull](/source/University_College_Hull).[1][2]
