# Harbecke

**Harbecke** is a locality in the municipality [Schmallenberg](/source/Schmallenberg) in the district [Hochsauerlandkreis](/source/Hochsauerlandkreis) in [North Rhine-Westphalia](/source/North_Rhine-Westphalia), Germany.

The village has 123 inhabitants[1] and lies in the west of the municipality of Schmallenberg at a height of around 395 m on the [Kreisstraße](/source/Kreisstra%C3%9Fe) 25. The river Harbecke flows through the village.

Harbecke borders on the villages of [Felbecke](/source/Felbecke), [Fleckenberg](/source/Fleckenberg), [Lenne](/source/Lenne_(Schmallenberg)), [Selkentrop](/source/Selkentrop), [Werpe](/source/Werpe) and [Werntrop](/source/Werntrop). "Hartbeke" was first mentioned in 1361 in a document from [Grafschaft Abbey](/source/Grafschaft_Abbey). The village used to belong to the municipality of [Wormbach](/source/Wormbach) in Amt Schmallenberg until the end of 1974.[2]
