# Hans Adametz

**Hans Adametz** (17 August 1896 – 26 September 1966) was an Austrian [ceramist](/source/Ceramist), sculptor and art educator.

## Life

Born in Vienna,[1] Adametz attended the Ceramic College in [Znojmo](/source/Znojmo) and studied with [Oskar Strnad](/source/Oskar_Strnad) and [Michael Powolny](/source/Michael_Powolny) at the [University of Applied Arts Vienna](/source/University_of_Applied_Arts_Vienna). He attended further training courses at the Gmunden Ceramic Workshops and at Wienerberg. He worked for the [Keramos Wien](/source/Keramos_Wien). After teaching in [Wiener Neustadt](/source/Wiener_Neustadt) and [Mödling](/source/M%C3%B6dling), he was appointed to the [HTBLVA Graz-Ortweinschule](/source/HTBLVA_Graz-Ortweinschule) in Graz in 1922. He was a professor and art ceramist at the State College of Clay Industry in Znojmo.[1] He was also a [lecturer](/source/Lecturer) at the [Technical University of Graz](/source/Technical_University_of_Graz).[2][3]

Adametz was a board member of the [Steiermärkischer Kunstverein Werkbund](/source/Steierm%C3%A4rkischer_Kunstverein_Werkbund).[4][5]

Adametz died in Graz at the age of 70.[1]
