**Hannah Rose Ware** (born 8 December 1982)[1] is an English actress. She is known for the [Starz](/source/Starz_(TV_network)) political drama series *[Boss](/source/Boss_(TV_series))* (2011–2012) and the [ABC](/source/American_Broadcasting_Company) primetime soap opera *[Betrayal](/source/Betrayal_(American_TV_series))* (2013–2014).

## Life and career

Ware was born in [Hammersmith](/source/Hammersmith) and raised in [Clapham](/source/Clapham).[citation needed] She is the daughter of Helena (née Keell), a social worker, and [John Ware](/source/John_Ware_(TV_journalist)), a former BBC Panorama reporter, who divorced when she was 12. She is the older sister of musician [Jessie Ware](/source/Jessie_Ware).[1][2][3] Her mother is [Jewish](/source/Jewish), and both Ware and her sister were raised in the faith.[4][5] She attended [Alleyn's School](/source/Alleyn's_School) in Dulwich, then studied acting at the [Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute](/source/Lee_Strasberg_Theatre_and_Film_Institute) in New York.[6]

Ware appeared in the films *[Cop Out](/source/Cop_Out_(2010_film))* (2010) and *[Shame](/source/Shame_(2011_film))* (2011). From 2011 to 2012, she played Emma Kane, the estranged addict daughter of Chicago mayor Tom Kane, in the [Starz](/source/Starz_(TV_network)) series *[Boss](/source/Boss_(TV_series))*. In 2013, she was cast in ABC drama series *[Betrayal](/source/Betrayal_(American_TV_series))* as lead character,[7] and she appeared in [Spike Lee](/source/Spike_Lee)'s thriller film *[Oldboy](/source/Oldboy_(2013_film))*.[6] In 2015, Ware played the female lead, opposite [Rupert Friend](/source/Rupert_Friend), in the action film *[Hitman: Agent 47](/source/Hitman:_Agent_47)*.[8][9]

Ware starred in the Hulu series *[The First](/source/The_First_(TV_series))* in 2018, and played the leading role on the Netflix science fiction series *[The One](/source/The_One_(TV_series))* in 2021.[10]
