# Hannah Botterman

**Hannah Ruby Botterman** (born 8 June 1999) is an English rugby union [prop](/source/Prop_(rugby_union)) who represents [Bristol Bears Women](/source/Bristol_Bears_Women) in club rugby and the [England national team](/source/England_national_women's_rugby_union_team). Botterman made her debut in 2017 against [Canada](/source/Canada_women's_national_rugby_union_team).[1]

## International career

In 2017, Botterman was called up to the England national women's rugby team after an impressive season at her club, Saracens. She made her debut versus Canada.[2]

Botterman played again for England in the 2019 Super Series San Diego and was awarded a full time professional contract by the [Rugby Football Union](/source/Rugby_Football_Union) for the 2019/20 season.[3]

She was part of the Grand Slam winning [2019 Women's Six Nations Championship](/source/2019_Women's_Six_Nations_Championship) team.[2]

She was named in the [England squad](/source/England_women's_national_rugby_union_team) for the delayed [2021 Rugby World Cup](/source/2021_Rugby_World_Cup) held in New Zealand in October and November 2022.[4]

On 17 March 2025, she was called into the [Red Roses](/source/England_women's_national_rugby_union_team) side for the [Six Nations Championship](/source/2025_Women's_Six_Nations_Championship).[5][6] She was named in England's squad for the [Women's Rugby World Cup](/source/2025_Women's_Rugby_World_Cup) in [England](/source/England).[7][8]

## Club career

Aged 18 she made her debut for [Saracens Women](/source/Saracens_Women) during the 2017/18 season. She has been instrumental in Saracens winning back-to-back Tyrell Premier 15s titles, scoring the winning try in the 2017/18 final against [Harlequins Women](/source/Harlequins_Women).[9]

She has represented Hertfordshire, London & South East and England Under-18s.[3]

## Early life and education

Botterman began playing rugby aged four for Datchworth RFC and after eight years moved to [Welwyn RFC](/source/Welwyn_RFC).[9] Both her parents were involved in the game, playing for Datchworth, as were other members of her extended family: her aunt Jane Everett was also an England international prop. Her uncle [Greg Botterman](/source/Gregg_Botterman) played for England A and [Saracens F.C.](/source/Saracens_F.C.)[2][10]

She was educated at [Monk's Walk School](/source/Monk's_Walk_School) in [Welwyn Garden City](/source/Welwyn_Garden_City), [Hertfordshire](/source/Hertfordshire).[11] At 16, she attended [Hartpury College](/source/Hartpury_College).[11]

Before she was offered a full-time rugby contract, Botterman was a painter and decorator, and a waitress at [Harvester](/source/Harvester_(restaurant)).[10] She plays recreational golf.[12]

## Personal life

Since November 2025 Botterman has been confirmed to be in a relationship with [Welsh rugby union](/source/Wales_women's_national_rugby_union_team) international [Georgia Evans](/source/Georgia_Evans_(rugby_union)).[13] Botterman was previously in a relationship with England teammate [Holly Aitchison](/source/Holly_Aitchison).[14]
