'''Hammer Col''' is a broad ice-covered [col](/source/Mountain_pass) at {{convert|3800|m}} elevation between the south part of the [Vinson Massif](/source/Vinson_Massif) and the [Craddock Massif](/source/Craddock_Massif) in the [Sentinel Range](/source/Sentinel_Range) of the [Ellsworth Mountains](/source/Ellsworth_Mountains), Antarctica. The {{convert|1.5|nmi|km|0|adj=on}} wide saddle is relatively level and visually separates the two [massif](/source/massif)s whether viewed from the east or the west.<ref name=gnis/> It is part of the glacial divide between the heads of [Dater Glacier](/source/Dater_Glacier) on the northeast and [Gildea Glacier](/source/Gildea_Glacier) on the southwest.

The feature was named by the [Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names](/source/Advisory_Committee_on_Antarctic_Names) (2006) after [William R. Hammer](/source/William_R._Hammer) of the Department of Geology, [Augustana College](/source/Augustana_College_(Illinois)), [Rock Island, IL](/source/Rock_Island%2C_IL), a [U.S. Antarctic Program](/source/U.S._Antarctic_Program) investigator of [vertebrate](/source/vertebrate) fossils, primarily in the central [Transantarctic Mountains](/source/Transantarctic_Mountains), 1977–2003.<ref name=gnis>{{cite gnis | type = antarid | id = 18849| name = Hammer Col | accessdate = 2012-05-18}}</ref>
