The '''Hamilton Steel''' are a Canadian [junior](/source/junior_hockey) [ice hockey](/source/ice_hockey) team based in Hamilton, [Ontario](/source/Ontario). They play in the Eastern Conference of the [Greater Ontario Hockey League](/source/Greater_Ontario_Hockey_League). The team was known as the [Stoney Creek Warriors](/source/Stoney_Creek_Warriors) prior to 2013 and the [Ancaster Avalanche](/source/Ancaster_Avalanche) until 2018.

==History==
The Stoney Creek Warriors were formed in 1974 as a member of the [Niagara & District Junior C Hockey League](/source/Niagara_%26_District_Junior_C_Hockey_League). As a Junior C team, the Warriors would win four league titles. The Warriors moved up to the [Golden Horseshoe Junior B Hockey League](/source/Golden_Horseshoe_Junior_B_Hockey_League) in 1994 under the name '''Spirit'''.

In the Summer of 2013, the team was relocated to [Ancaster, Ontario](/source/Ancaster%2C_Ontario) and renamed the Avalanche. On September 7, 2013, hockey officially returned to Ancaster, as the Avalanche hosted the [Buffalo Regals](/source/Buffalo_Regals) in their season opener and defeated them 10–3. In 2016 the Avalanche became an affiliate of the [OHL](/source/Ontario_Hockey_League) [Hamilton Bulldogs](/source/Hamilton_Bulldogs_(OHL)).

In April 2018, the team announced they were moving to Hamilton, taking over the Kilty B's moniker, purchased from the ownership of the [Markham Royals](/source/Markham_Royals) who were previously located in Hamilton as the Red Wings and Kilty B's.<ref>{{Cite web |url=http://ancasteravalanche.pointstreaksites.com/view/ancasteravalanche/news-articles/news_502499 |title=Avalanche moving to Hamilton as Kilty B's revived next season | OHA Ancaster Avalanche |access-date=2018-04-19 |archive-date=2018-04-20 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180420074105/http://ancasteravalanche.pointstreaksites.com/view/ancasteravalanche/news-articles/news_502499 |url-status=dead }}</ref>

On March 13, 2026, the team rebranded as the Hamilton Steel.<ref>{{cite web |title=Hamilton announces name change |url=https://www.gohl.ca/hamilton-announces-name-change |access-date=21 March 2026 |date=13 March 2026}}</ref>
