He was a member of the [New York State Senate](/source/New_York_State_Senate) (13th D.) from 1876 to 1879, sitting in the [99th](/source/99th_New_York_State_Legislature), [100th](/source/100th_New_York_State_Legislature), [101st](/source/101st_New_York_State_Legislature) and [102nd New York State Legislature](/source/102nd_New_York_State_Legislature)s.
