The name Hamdard ([Urdu](/source/Urdu): ہمدرد) is a Persian word which means "companion in suffering".<ref>{{Cite web |title=Meaning of hamdard in English |url=https://www.rekhtadictionary.com/meaning-of-hamdard |access-date=2025-06-17 |website=Rekhta Dictionary |language=en}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |title=English translation of Hamdard |url=https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/hindi-english/%E0%A4%B9%E0%A4%AE%E0%A4%A6%E0%A4%B0%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%A6 |access-date=2025-07-06 |website=Collins Dictionaries |language=en}}</ref>
