**Hamad Mohsen Al-Montashari** (also spelled **Al-Montazeri**; [Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): حمد المُنتشري, *Hamad al-Muntasharī*; born 22 June 1982) is a Saudi Arabian former [footballer](/source/Association_football) who spent his entire career for [Al-Ittihad](/source/Al-Ittihad_(Jeddah)). A [central defender](/source/Defender_(association_football)#Centre-back), Al-Montashari became the 2005 Asian Football Player of the Year, finishing ahead of Uzbekistani [Maksim Shatskikh](/source/Maksim_Shatskikh) in the polls.[2] He represented Saudi Arabia at the [2006 FIFA World Cup](/source/2006_FIFA_World_Cup) and two [AFC Asian Cups](/source/AFC_Asian_Cup).
