# Hage

**Hage** ([East Frisian](/source/East_Frisian_language): *Haag*) is a small [East Frisian](/source/East_Frisia) town (*Flecken*) in [Lower Saxony](/source/Lower_Saxony), [Germany](/source/Germany). Located in the [district of Aurich](/source/Aurich_(district)) close to the [North Sea](/source/North_Sea), approximately 5 km east of [Norden](/source/Norden,_Lower_Saxony), Hage has a population of 6,424 as of 31 December 2022. Hage is also the seat of the *[Samtgemeinde](/source/Samtgemeinde)* ("collective municipality") [Hage](/source/Hage_(Samtgemeinde)).

To the municipality of Hage belong the villages (*Ortsteile*) of [Berum](/source/Berum,_Hage), Blandorf, Hagerwilde, and Wichte. The former is the site of [Berum Castle](/source/Berum_Castle), which played an important role in [East Frisian history](/source/History_of_East_Frisia).
