**Hadi Ahmed Basheer** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): هَادِي أَحْمَد بَشِير; born November 1, 1951) is an [Iraqi](/source/Iraq) [football](/source/Association_football) coach and former player. He played as a [midfielder](/source/Midfielder) and spent the majority of his career with [Al-Minaa](/source/Al-Minaa) club.[2]

He was capped [Iraqi League](/source/Iraqi_League) title for Al-Mina'a in [1978](/source/1977%E2%80%9378_Iraqi_League), and appeared at the [World Military Cup 1977](/source/World_Military_Cup_1977), He played matches in [Pestabola Merdeka](/source/Pestabola_Merdeka) 1977 in [Malaysia](/source/Malaysia). Hadi play in the [Moscow Olympics in 1980](/source/1980_Summer_Olympics), where his goal was the debut Iraqi goal in Olympic competition, against [Costa Rica](/source/Costa_Rica_national_football_team); sports fans called him: the ([Maestro](/source/Maestro) of [Iraqi football](/source/Iraqi_football)). He played in [5th Arabian Gulf Cup](/source/5th_Arabian_Gulf_Cup) in 1979 and scored two goals, the first goal against [Emirates](/source/United_Arab_Emirates_national_football_team), and the second against [Kuwait](/source/Kuwait_national_football_team), and won the best player title of the tournament. He took part in the three seasons of the tournament ([1976](/source/4th_Arabian_Gulf_Cup), [1979](/source/5th_Arabian_Gulf_Cup) and [1982](/source/6th_Arabian_Gulf_Cup)) and scored the goal of No. 200 in the tournament's history.[3]

Hadi's older brother, [Abdul Razzaq](/source/Abdul_Razzaq_Ahmed), was playing with him in [Al-Mina'a](/source/Al-Mina'a) ([captain](/source/Captain_(association_football))), Hadi has influenced his style.[4]

## International career

On April 2, 1975 Hadi Ahmed played his debut with [Iraq](/source/Iraq_national_football_team) against [Qatar](/source/Qatar_national_football_team) in a fully international match, in the [1976 AFC Asian Cup qualification](/source/1976_AFC_Asian_Cup_qualification) in [Baghdad](/source/Baghdad), which ended 1-0 for Iraq.[3]

On March 26, 1982 Hadi Ahmed played his last international match with Iraq against Qatar, within the [6th Arabian Gulf Cup](/source/6th_Arabian_Gulf_Cup) in [UAE](/source/United_Arab_Emirates), which ended 2-1 for Iraq.[3]
