== History ==

=== Background ===
Before the Roosters formed in 1961, its band members were predominantly members of [Lehakat HaNahal](/source/Lehakat_HaNahal) ([Yehoram Gaon](/source/Yehoram_Gaon), [Yisrael Poliakov](/source/Yisrael_Poliakov), [Hanan Goldblatt](/source/Hanan_Goldblatt), Amiram Spector, and {{ill|Tuval Peter|he|תובל פטר}}), all of whom wanted to continue collaborating with one another past their military service.<ref name="moo" /><ref name="haa" /> They went to [Naomi Polani](/source/Naomi_Polani), who agreed to help direct the band.<ref name="haa" /><ref name=":0" />

=== 1961: First Program and album ===

The first program's repertoire included songs from [HaChizbatron](/source/Chizbatron) and Hebrew translations of French songs.<ref name=":0" /><ref name=":1" />

== Legacy ==
In 1998, Polani created the show "The Roosters Return" ({{lang|he|התרנגולים חוזרים}}), but it did not include any new songs and was seen mostly as a throwback.<ref name="moo" />
