It was started by [Nahum Sokolow](/source/Nahum_Sokolow) as a Hebrew section of ''[Die Welt](/source/Die_Welt_(Herzl))'', organ of the Zionist Organization in Germany.<ref name=":0">{{Cite book |last=Pearl |first=Chaim |title=The Encyclopedia of Jewish Life and Thought |publisher=Carta, The Israel Map & Publishing Company Limited, Israel |year=1996 |isbn=978-965-220-232-1 |pages=172}}</ref> It was published in [Cologne](/source/Cologne) 1907–08, [Vilna](/source/Vilnius) and [Odessa](/source/Odesa) 1909–1914 under [Alter Druyanov](/source/Alter_Druyanov), in [London](/source/London) in 1919 and 1920 under {{Ill|Abraham Idelson|he|אברהם אידלסון}}, and [Berlin](/source/Berlin) 1923 and 1924.<ref name=":0" /> In 1937, the paper was published in Jerusalem under {{Ill|Moshe Kleinmann|he|משה קליינמן}} until his death in 1948.<ref name=":0" />
