# HNoMS Vale

Three ships of the [Royal Norwegian Navy](/source/Royal_Norwegian_Navy) have borne the name **HNoMS *Vale***, after [Váli](/source/V%C3%A1li), son of the god [Odin](/source/Odin) and the giantess [Rindr](/source/Rindr):

- [HNOMS *Vale* (1843)](/source/HNOMS_Vale_(1843)) was a [schooner](/source/Schooner).
- [HNOMS *Vale* (1874)](/source/HNOMS_Vale_(1874)) was a [*Vale*-class gunboat](/source/Vale-class_gunboat) [Rendel gunboat](/source/Rendel_gunboat) built for the Royal Norwegian Navy at [Karljohansvern](/source/Karljohansvern) Naval Yard in 1874.
- [HNOMS *Vale* (N53)](/source/HNOMS_Vale_(N53)) was [minelayer](/source/Minelayer) built in 1978, and sold to the [Latvian Navy](/source/Latvian_Navy) in 2003.
