# HMS Rosalind

There have been two ships of the [Royal Navy](/source/Royal_Navy) named **HMS *Rosalind***, named after the [protagonist](/source/Rosalind_(As_You_Like_It)) in [William Shakespeare](/source/William_Shakespeare)'s *[As You Like It](/source/As_You_Like_It)*:

- [HMS *Rosalind* (1913)](/source/HMS_Rosalind_(1913)), renamed [HMS *Liberty*](/source/HMS_Liberty_(1913)) shortly after launching in 1913, an [*L*-class destroyer (1913)](/source/L-class_destroyer_(1913)) [destroyer](/source/Destroyer) that fought at the [Battle of Jutland](/source/Battle_of_Jutland) in 1916 and was broken up in 1921.[1]
- [HMS *Rosalind* (1916)](/source/HMS_Rosalind_(1916)), an [R-class destroyer](/source/R-class_destroyer) launched by [Thornycroft](/source/John_I._Thornycroft_%26_Company) in 1916 and scrapped in 1926.[2]
