# HMS Robin

Two ships and a [shore establishment](/source/Shore_establishment) of the [Royal Navy](/source/Royal_Navy) have borne the name **HMS *Robin***, after the [European robin](/source/European_robin), a type of bird:

- [HMS *Robin* (1897)](/source/HMS_Robin_(1897)) was a *Heron*-class gunboat, built in sections in 1897 and erected in [Hong Kong](/source/Hong_Kong). She was sold in 1928.
- [HMS *Robin* (T65)](/source/HMS_Robin_(T65)) was a river gunboat, launched in 1934 and scuttled in 1941.
- [HMS *Robin* (1943 shore establishment)](/source/HMS_Robin_(1943_shore_establishment)) was a naval air station of the Royal Navy, commissioned in 1943 at [RNAS Kirkwall](/source/RNAS_Kirkwall) as a tender to [HMS *Sparrowhawk*](/source/HMS_Sparrowhawk_(shore_establishment)). It became an independent command in 1944 and ['paid off'](/source/Ship_commissioning#Decommissioning) in 1945.
