**HD 129132** is a [triple star](/source/Triple_star)[6] system in the northern [constellation](/source/Constellation) of [Boötes](/source/Bo%C3%B6tes). It is dimly visible to the naked eye with a combined [apparent visual magnitude](/source/Apparent_visual_magnitude) of 6.13.[1] The distance to this system is approximately 382 [light years](/source/Light_year) based on [parallax](/source/Stellar_parallax), and it is drifting further away from the [Sun](/source/Sun) with a [radial velocity](/source/Radial_velocity) of +1.7 km/s.[5]

This system was found to be a [spectroscopic binary](/source/Spectroscopic_binary) by the [Dominion Astrophysical Observatory](/source/Dominion_Astrophysical_Observatory) in 1923. It was then shown to be a triple star system in 1937 by [William E. Harper](/source/William_Edmund_Harper) and Guy H. Blanchet.[10] The inner pair have an [orbital period](/source/Orbital_period) of 101.6 days and an [eccentricity](/source/Orbital_eccentricity) of 0.117, with the primary forming the visible component of this pair. The third component forms a visual system with the inner pair, orbiting with a period of 9.27 years and an eccentricity of 0.073.[6][11]

The primary component appears to be an aging [giant star](/source/Giant_star) with a [stellar classification](/source/Stellar_classification) of F4III,[4] although it has also been classed as a [G-type main-sequence star](/source/G-type_main-sequence_star) of type G0V.[3] It is around a billion years old with twice the [mass of the Sun](/source/Mass_of_the_Sun).[7] The star has expanded to 17 times the [Sun's radius](/source/Sun's_radius)[5] and is radiating 236 times the [luminosity of the Sun](/source/Luminosity_of_the_Sun)[5] at an [effective temperature](/source/Effective_temperature) of 5,488 K.[5] It is spinning with a [projected rotational velocity](/source/Projected_rotational_velocity) of 25.3 km/s.[7]
