**HD 125442** is a single[10] [star](/source/Star) in the southern [constellation](/source/Constellation) of [Lupus](/source/Lupus_(constellation)). Its [apparent visual magnitude](/source/Apparent_visual_magnitude) is 4.78,[1] which can be seen with the naked eye. The distance to HD 125442, as determined from its annual [parallax shift](/source/Stellar_parallax) of 22.1 [mas](/source/Milliarcsecond),[2] is 147 [light years](/source/Light_year).

This is an [F-type](/source/F-type_star) [subgiant star](/source/Subgiant_star) with a [stellar classification](/source/Stellar_classification) of F0 IV,[3] having, at the age of 614 million years,[8] used up the hydrogen at its core and begun the process of [evolving](/source/Stellar_evolution) into a [giant star](/source/Giant_star). It has 1.6 times the [mass of the Sun](/source/Mass_of_the_Sun) and is radiating 20 times the [Sun's luminosity](/source/Sun's_luminosity) from its [photosphere](/source/Photosphere) at an [effective temperature](/source/Effective_temperature) of 7,123 [K](/source/Kelvin).[7] The star displays a high rate of spin with a [projected rotational velocity](/source/Projected_rotational_velocity) of 148 km/s.[6]
