**HD 114386** is a [star](/source/Star) with a pair of orbiting [exoplanets](/source/Exoplanet) in the southern [constellation](/source/Constellation) of [Centaurus](/source/Centaurus). It has an [apparent visual magnitude](/source/Apparent_visual_magnitude) of 8.73,[3] which means it cannot be viewed with the naked eye but can be seen with a [telescope](/source/Telescope) or good [binoculars](/source/Binoculars). Based on [parallax](/source/Stellar_parallax) measurements, the system is located at a distance of 91 [light-years](/source/Light-year) from the Sun. It is receding with a [radial velocity](/source/Radial_velocity) of 33.4 km/s.[4] The star shows a high [proper motion](/source/Proper_motion), traversing the [celestial sphere](/source/Celestial_sphere) at an [angular rate](/source/Angular_rate) of 0.318 arcsec yr−1.[8]

The [spectrum](/source/Stellar_spectrum) of HD 114386 yields a [stellar classification](/source/Stellar_classification) of K3 V,[3] matching a [K-type main-sequence star](/source/K-type_main-sequence_star), or orange dwarf. It has 76% of the mass of the Sun and 73% of the Sun's radius. HD 114386 is a much older star than the Sun with an estimated age of roughly nine billion years.[5] The abundance of iron in the [stellar atmosphere](/source/Stellar_atmosphere), a measure of the star's [metallicity](/source/Metallicity), is nearly solar.[6] It is rather dim compared to the Sun, radiating just 28% of the luminosity of the Sun from its [photosphere](/source/Photosphere) at an [effective temperature](/source/Effective_temperature) of 4,926 K.[5]

## Planetary system

In 2004, the [Geneva Extrasolar Planet Search Team](/source/Geneva_Extrasolar_Planet_Search_Team) announced the discovery of an [exoplanet](/source/Exoplanet) orbiting the star by the [radial velocity method](/source/Radial_velocity_method).[3] The preliminary data for a second, inner, exoplanet was released in 2011;[9] it was confirmed in 2026.[10] The inclination and [true mass](/source/True_mass) of the outer planet have been determined by [astrometry](/source/Astrometry).[10]
