## Biography

Guy Tirolien was born in [Point-à-Pitre](/source/Point-%C3%A0-Pitre), [Guadelope](/source/Guadelope) to Furcie Tirolen and Léontine Alméda Colonneau. He was admitted to the [Lycée Louis-le-Grand](/source/Lyc%C3%A9e_Louis-le-Grand) in [Paris](/source/Paris), where he met [Aimé Césaire](/source/Aim%C3%A9_C%C3%A9saire), [Léopold Sédar Senghor](/source/L%C3%A9opold_S%C3%A9dar_Senghor) and [Léon-Gontran Damas](/source/L%C3%A9on-Gontran_Damas), with whom he took part in the creation of the [Négritude](/source/N%C3%A9gritude) ideological movement.[1] He was also a [colonial](/source/Colonialism_in_Africa) administrator in [Cameroon](/source/Cameroon) and [Mali](/source/Mali), where he met several figures of the [Harlem Renaissance](/source/Harlem_Renaissance).
