**Grofit** ([Hebrew](/source/Hebrew_language): גְּרוֹפִית, *lit.* [shoot](/source/Shoot_(botany)) [of a plant]) is a [kibbutz](/source/Kibbutz) in southern [Israel](/source/Israel). Located near [Eilat](/source/Eilat) in the [Arabah](/source/Arabah) region, it falls under the jurisdiction of [Hevel Eilot Regional Council](/source/Hevel_Eilot_Regional_Council). In 2024 it had a population of 337.[1]

## History

The community was founded in 1963 as a [Nahal settlement](/source/Nahal_settlement) and is named after the Arabic name of the nearby Grofit Creek. In 1966 the kibbutz was settled by adults who had been members of the [HaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed](/source/HaNoar_HaOved_VeHaLomed) youth movement.[2]
