{{short description|Phantom island west of Greenland}}
thumb|Groclant on the Mercator map.
'''Groclant''' is the name of a [phantom island](/source/phantom_island) generally shown off the western side of [Greenland](/source/Greenland), first appearing on maps in the late 16th century. The name of the island may be an errant reading of [Greenland](/source/Greenland).<ref>{{cite book|author1=Justin Winsor|title=Harvard University Bulletin, Volume 3|date=1884|page=358|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=3NP39y6V0bMC&q=Groclant+island}}</ref>

One of the first maps to show Groclant was [a Mercator map from 1569](/source/Mercator_1569_world_map), where it appeared west of Groenlant. The island was labeled on the map as being inhabited by [Swedes](/source/Swedes).<ref>{{cite web|title=Old Greenland|url=http://oldgreenland.com/efni/kort_maps_tabulas|accessdate=17 July 2014}}</ref> One of the last maps to feature Groclant was a [Quadus](/source/Quadus) map of 1608. Modern speculation has theorized that Groclant may be [Baffin Island](/source/Baffin_Island), north of Labrador, in northern Canada.
