The Grindau rises in the {{ill|Viehbruch|de||nds|Veehbrook}} near [Wedemark](/source/Wedemark)-Plumhof and flows initially westwards via [Lindwedel](/source/Lindwedel), Adolfsglück, Hope (both parts of Lindwebel), [Esperke](/source/Esperke) to the village of {{ill|Grindau, Schwarmstedt|lt=Grindau|de|Grindau (Schwarmstedt)}} (part of [Schwarmstedt](/source/Schwarmstedt)), where it discharges into the [Leine](/source/Leine).
