**Greg Lauren** ([né](/source/N%C3%A9) **Greg Lauren Dana Smith**;[1] born (1970-01-06)January 6, 1970) is an American actor, painter, and fashion designer. He is the nephew of fashion designer [Ralph Lauren](/source/Ralph_Lauren).

## Early life

Lauren was born in New York City, into a family of [Belarusian-Jewish](/source/History_of_the_Jews_in_Belarus) descent, and is the nephew of Ralph Lauren, a renowned fashion designer. Greg Lauren graduated with a bachelor's degree in art history at [Princeton University](/source/Princeton_University) in 1991.

## Career

Lauren portrayed Brett Nelson on *[The Young and the Restless](/source/The_Young_and_the_Restless)* on [CBS](/source/CBS), and has appeared in films including *[Friends & Family](/source/Friends_%26_Family_(film))*, *[The Wedding Planner](/source/The_Wedding_Planner)*, and *[Boogie Nights](/source/Boogie_Nights)*. A painter, he has painted nudes commanding up to $15,000 which were bought by [Renée Zellweger](/source/Ren%C3%A9e_Zellweger), [Demi Moore](/source/Demi_Moore), [Ben Stiller](/source/Ben_Stiller), [Cuba Gooding, Jr.](/source/Cuba_Gooding_Jr.), and other celebrities.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

## Personal life

On November 1, 2003, he and *[Saved by the Bell](/source/Saved_by_the_Bell)* actress [Elizabeth Berkley](/source/Elizabeth_Berkley) in [Cabo San Lucas, Mexico](/source/Cabo_San_Lucas) married[5] in a [Jewish ceremony](/source/Chuppah).[5] Their son was born in July 2012.[6]
