'''Greg Fishel''' (born February 19, 1957) is a former [meteorologist](/source/meteorologist) for [WRAL-TV](/source/WRAL-TV) in [Raleigh](/source/Raleigh%2C_North_Carolina), [North Carolina](/source/North_Carolina). He received his B.S. in Meteorology from [Pennsylvania State University](/source/Pennsylvania_State_University) in 1979.

Fishel began his broadcast meteorology career in 1979 with [WMDT](/source/WMDT) in [Salisbury, Maryland](/source/Salisbury%2C_Maryland).<ref>{{cite news|title=11pm Newscast, 8/19/1980|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ3PPY3glzU&t=19m18s |archive-url=https://ghostarchive.org/varchive/youtube/20211215/NJ3PPY3glzU |archive-date=2021-12-15 |url-status=live|newspaper=WMDT}}{{cbignore}}</ref>
He joined WRAL in 1981, and became the station's chief meteorologist in 1989.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.wral.com/rs/bio/1010713/ |title=Greg Fishel :: WRAL.com |author=WRAL |date= |work= |publisher=WRAL |accessdate=30 December 2010 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20100914094639/http://www.wral.com/rs/bio/1010713/ |archive-date=14 September 2010 |url-status=dead }}</ref> He resigned from the WRAL News Team in February 2019.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.wral.com/greg-fishel-announcement/18190287/ |title=Greg Fishel announcement :: WRAL.com |author=WRAL |accessdate=13 February 2019}}</ref> In late 2019, Fishel joined Priogen Energy, an Amsterdam-based energy company, as an atmospheric scientist.<ref>{{cite news |last1=Huffman |first1=Dane |title=WRAL's Fishel lands new job |url=https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2020/02/07/tbj-plus-wrals-fishel-lands-new-job-epic-raleigh.html |accessdate=4 April 2020 |work=Triangle Business Journal |date=7 February 2020}}</ref>

Through most of his career, Fishel held a view on [climate change](/source/climate_change) in opposition to the [climate consensus](/source/scientific_consensus_on_climate_change). However, he began researching the matter in 2005, and by 2015 he participated in a climate documentary. In his last five years with WRAL, Fishel would make strong anti-denialist statements on climate change.<ref>{{cite news |last1=Fishel |first1=Greg |title=How a North Carolina meteorologist abandoned his climate change skepticism |url=https://www.cjr.org/special_report/climate-change-skeptic-meteorologist.php |accessdate=4 April 2020 |work=Columbia Journalism Review |date=13 November 2017 |language=en}}</ref><ref>{{cite news |last1=Bennett |first1=Abbie |title='Put up or shut up': WRAL's Greg Fishel goes off on climate change deniers |url=https://www.newsobserver.com/news/weather/article152016942.html |accessdate=4 April 2020 |work=The News & Observer |date=23 May 2017}}</ref>
