**Greg Barreto** is an American businessman and politician. He represented district 58 in northeastern Oregon in the [State House of Representatives](/source/Oregon_House_of_Representatives) from January 2015 to January 2021. He is a member of the [Republican Party](/source/Republican_Party_(United_States)).

House district 58 includes all of [Union County](/source/Union_County%2C_Oregon) and [Wallowa County](/source/Wallowa_County%2C_Oregon), as well as portions of [Umatilla County](/source/Umatilla_County%2C_Oregon).

## Business career

In 1982, Barreto invented a [hydraulic](/source/Hydraulic) [rototiller](/source/Cultivator). He and his wife founded Barreto Manufacturing in 1984 in [Keizer, Oregon](/source/Keizer%2C_Oregon), moving to [La Grande, Oregon](/source/La_Grande%2C_Oregon), in 1986.[1][2][*[self-published source](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability#Self-published_sources)*]

## Political career

Barreto was elected to the Oregon State House of Representatives in 2014. He succeeded [Dean of the House](/source/Dean_of_the_House), [Republican](/source/Republican_Party_(United_States)) [Bob Jenson](/source/Bob_Jenson).[3] Barreto was selected to serve on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, Business and Labor Committee and Education Committee during the [78th Legislative Assembly](/source/78th_Oregon_Legislative_Assembly).[4]

On December 11, 2020, Barreto and 11 other state Republican officials signed a letter requesting [Oregon Attorney General](/source/Oregon_Attorney_General) [Ellen Rosenblum](/source/Ellen_Rosenblum) join Texas and other states contesting the results of the [2020 presidential election](/source/2020_United_States_presidential_election) in *[Texas v. Pennsylvania](/source/Texas_v._Pennsylvania)*. Rosenblum announced she had filed in behalf of the defense, and against Texas, the day prior.[5]
