The **Great Mosque of Ramla** ([Hebrew](/source/Hebrew_language): המסגד הגדול ברמלה) is a [mosque](/source/Mosque) in [Ramla](/source/Ramla), in the [Central District](/source/Central_District_(Israel)) of [Israel](/source/Israel).

## Overview

The mosque was constructed in 12th century as a [church](/source/Church_(building)). In 1266 [CE](/source/Common_Era), during the [Mamluk Sultanate](/source/Mamluk_Sultanate) rule, the church was transformed into a mosque. A [mihrab](/source/Mihrab) and [minaret](/source/Minaret) were added to the structure.[1]

The mosque consists of three parallel halls, a [nave](/source/Nave) and two [transepts](/source/Transept).[1]

The mosque is accessible within walking distance south of [Ramla Station](/source/Ramla_railway_station) of [Israel Railways](/source/Israel_Railways).
