Grand-Reng

**Grand-Reng** (French pronunciation: [\[ɡʁɑ̃ ʁɑ̃\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/French); [Walloon](/source/Walloon_language): *Grand-Rin*) is a village of [Wallonia](/source/Wallonia) and a district of the municipality of [Erquelinnes](/source/Erquelinnes), located in the [province of Hainaut](/source/Hainaut_Province), [Belgium](/source/Belgium).

It is located on the border with [France](/source/France), on the main road from [Mons](/source/Mons%2C_Belgium) to [Beaumont](/source/Beaumont%2C_Belgium). Its French neighbour is called [Vieux-Reng](/source/Vieux-Reng).

On 13 May 1794, the village was the site of the [Battle of Grandreng](/source/Battle_of_Grandreng) when [Franz Wenzel, Graf von Kaunitz-Rietberg](/source/Franz_Wenzel%2C_Graf_von_Kaunitz-Rietberg)'s Austrian army defeated a French army under [Louis Charbonnier](/source/Louis_Charbonnier).
