The **Gosaukamm** is an [Austrian](/source/Austria) mountain chain within the [Dachstein](/source/Dachstein_Mountains) range of the [Northern Limestone Alps](/source/Northern_Limestone_Alps). Although relatively short in length, the chain forms an imposing backdrop to the valley and town of [Gosau](/source/Gosau). Its highest point reaches an elevation of 2,458 metres (8,064 ft).

## Geography

The main ridge of the Gosaukamm forms the border between the Austrian states of [Salzburg](/source/Salzburg_(state)) and [Upper Austria](/source/Upper_Austria). Part of the *Dachstein Massif;* it is located northwest of the [Hoher Dachstein](/source/Hoher_Dachstein) summit and forms part of the [UNESCO](/source/UNESCO) [World Heritage Site](/source/World_Heritage_Site) [Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut Cultural Landscape](/source/Hallstatt-Dachstein%2FSalzkammergut_Cultural_Landscape)[2] The [Vorderer Gosausee](/source/Gosauseen) lies along the northern side on its base. The range consists of multiple peaks, the highest of which being the [Große Bischofsmütze](/source/Gro%C3%9Fe_Bischofsm%C3%BCtze) at 2,458 metres (8,064 ft).

A [via ferrata](/source/Via_ferrata) suspended ladder which spans a gorge on Grosser Donnerkogel has become a popular attraction for alpine tourists.[3]
