**Gordon Wiles** (October 10, 1904 – October 17, 1950) was an American [art director](/source/Art_director#In_film) and [film director](/source/Film_director). He won an [Oscar](/source/Academy_Awards) for [Best Art Direction](/source/Academy_Award_for_Best_Production_Design) for the film *[Transatlantic](/source/Transatlantic_(1931_film))*.[1][2] He was born in [St. Louis, Missouri](/source/St._Louis%2C_Missouri). His father, Albert Wiles, was a doctor in Jerseyville, Illinois.
