'''Gordon Thomas Lund''' (February 23, 1941 – April 10, 2024) was an American [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) [shortstop](/source/shortstop), [second baseman](/source/second_baseman) and [third baseman](/source/third_baseman). He stood {{convert|5|ft|11|in|cm|abbr=on}} tall and weighed {{convert|170|lb|kg}}. During his two-season Major League career, Lund [batted](/source/batting_average_(baseball)) .261, with 12 [hit](/source/hit_(baseball))s, no [home runs](/source/home_runs), and one [run batted in](/source/run_batted_in).<ref name=":0">{{Cite web |title=Gordy Lund Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Rookie Status & More |url=https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/lundgo01.shtml |access-date=March 3, 2023 |website=[Baseball-Reference.com](/source/Baseball-Reference.com) |language=en}}</ref>

Lund was an adept defensive player who spent almost his entire 11-year playing career in [minor league baseball](/source/minor_league_baseball) (1960–1970). He signed with the [Cleveland Indians](/source/Cleveland_Indians) and in his 1960 rookie season led [Florida State League](/source/Florida_State_League) shortstops in [putouts](/source/putouts). The following year, he led [Carolina League](/source/Carolina_League) shortstops in [double plays](/source/double_plays) and [fielding percentage](/source/fielding_percentage). But Lund did not reach Cleveland until August 1, 1967, and received only a three-game trial with the Indians before being acquired along with [John O'Donoghue](/source/John_O'Donoghue_(1960s_pitcher)) by the [Baltimore Orioles](/source/Baltimore_Orioles) for [Eddie Fisher](/source/Eddie_Fisher_(baseball)) and minor leaguers Johnny Scruggs and Bob Scott on November 28, 1967.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Joyce |first=Dick |date=November 29, 1967 |title=L.A. Despite his fielding prowess as a minor leaguer, in the Majors he made six [errors](/source/error_(baseball)) in 61 [total chances](/source/total_chances) at shortstop, as well as one error in three chances as a second baseman, for a poor .891 fielding average overall.<ref name=":0" />

From 1974 to 1982, Lund managed in the [Chicago White Sox](/source/Chicago_White_Sox) [farm system](/source/farm_system) from the [Class A](/source/Class_A_(baseball)) to the [Triple-A](/source/Triple-A_(baseball)) levels. He compiled a won–loss mark of 608–615 (.497). His 1978 [Appleton Foxes](/source/Appleton_Foxes) won the [Midwest League](/source/Midwest_League) championship.<ref>{{cite book|title=Chicago White Sox 1982 Organization Book|year=1982|publisher=Boston: Howe News Bureau}}</ref>
