Collins was a right-handed [batsman](/source/batsman_(cricket)) who played occasionally as a [wicketkeeper](/source/wicketkeeper).  He was born at [Sunbury-on-Thames](/source/Sunbury-on-Thames), [Middlesex](/source/Middlesex).

Collins made his [first-class cricket](/source/first-class_cricket) debut for [Northamptonshire](/source/Northamptonshire_County_Cricket_Club) against [Worcestershire](/source/Worcestershire_County_Cricket_Club) in 1937.
