==History==
Located in the middle of the old [Moldavia](/source/Moldavia)n capital and raised on the foundation of the church erected, in the 16th century, by the boyar [Ioan Golia](/source/Ioan_Golia), the monastery was rebuilt on a greater scale by [Prince](/source/List_of_rulers_of_Moldavia) [Vasile Lupu](/source/Vasile_Lupu), between 1650 and 1653, and completed by his son [Ştefăniţă](/source/%C5%9Etef%C4%83ni%C5%A3%C4%83_Lupu). 

The monastery is surrounded by tall walls, with corner turrets and a {{convert|30|m|2|abbr=on}} height tower with 120 steps, one of city’s symbols, and houses the [Ion Creangă](/source/Ion_Creang%C4%83_(writer)) Museum (the writer was curate of the church) and [Doxologia Cultural Missionary Centre](/source/Doxologia_Cultural_Missionary_Centre) of the [Metropolis of Moldavia and Bukovina](/source/Metropolis_of_Moldavia_and_Bukovina).<ref>[http://www.romanianmonasteries.org/other-monasteries/iasi-churches/golia About Golia Monastery]</ref><ref>[http://editura.doxologia.ro/ About Doxologia]</ref>
