**Gohad** is one of the 230 [Vidhan Sabha](/source/Madhya_Pradesh_Vidhan_Sabha) (Legislative Assembly) constituencies of [Madhya Pradesh](/source/Madhya_Pradesh) state in central [India](/source/India). This constituency is reserved for the candidates belonging to the [Scheduled castes](/source/Dalit).[1] It came into existence in 1951, as Gohad Mehgaon, one of the 79 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the erstwhile [Madhya Bharat](/source/Madhya_Bharat) state.[2]

## Overview

Gohad (constituency number 13) is one of the 5 Vidhan Sabha constituencies located in [Bhind district](/source/Bhind_district). This constituency covers the entire Mau Tehsil and Gohad [tehsil](/source/Tehsil) of the district.[3]

Gohad is part of [Bhind Lok Sabha constituency](/source/Bhind_(Lok_Sabha_constituency)) along with seven other Vidhan Sabha segments, namely, [Ater](/source/Ater_Assembly_constituency), [Bhind](/source/Bhind_Assembly_constituency), [Lahar](/source/Lahar_Assembly_constituency) and [Mehgaon](/source/Mehgaon_Assembly_constituency) in this district and [Sewda](/source/Sewda_Assembly_constituency), [Bhander](/source/Bhander_Assembly_constituency) and [Datia](/source/Datia_Assembly_constituency) in [Datia district](/source/Datia_district).[3]
