==History==
The main problem facing the magazine in the 2010s is fostering enough advertising to meet publication costs.<ref name="Noronha" />

During Mascarenhas' and Dantas' ownership, Norman Dantas was first Associate editor and then as Executive editor for the magazine.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://saligaoserenade.com/2010/09/norman-dantas-a-journalist-par-excellence/|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160605102806/http://saligaoserenade.com/2010/09/norman-dantas-a-journalist-par-excellence/|url-status=usurped|archive-date=June 5, 2016|title=Norman Dantas – A Journalist Par Excellence|last=Mascarenhas|first=Fr. Nascimento|website=Saligao Serenade}}</ref> When ''Goa Today'' was sold to Salgaocar Mining Industries, Mascarenhas was followed as editor by [Vaman Sardesai](/source/Vaman_Sardesai), who left in 1987 to become India's [ambassador](/source/ambassador) to [Angola](/source/Angola).<ref name="deSouzaDishonourHerald08">{{Cite news|last=de Souza |first=Teotónio Rosário |author-link=Teotónio de Souza|date=12 November 2008|title=Dishonouring Our Freedom Fighters|newspaper=The Herald|location=Goa|volume=108|issue=317|page=8|url=https://www.researchgate.net/publication/279483615|access-date=10 July 2024}}</ref> He was followed as editor by the poet-journalist [Manohar Shetty](/source/Manohar_Shetty), who maintained the high standards and promoted Goan literature while keeping the balance between history, political issues and literature.<ref>{{Cite book|author=Kumar, Shiv|year=2008|chapter=One Outsider Looks In|editor=Noronha, Frederick|title=Behind the News: Voices from Goa's Press|publisher=Goa 1556|location=Goa|pages=141–142|isbn=978-81-905682-0-3}}</ref> Vinayak Naik is the current editor.<ref name="Noronha" />

In the mid 1980s, ''Goa Today'' was purchased by the [Salgaocar Mining Industries](/source/Salgaocar_Mining_Industries), now part of the [V. M. Salgaocar](/source/V._M._Salgaocar) group of companies, which also own the [Salgaocar Football Club](/source/Salgaocar_Football_Club) of Goa.<ref name="Noronha"/>

The magazine's publication was "paused" in May 2021, citing declining sales due to digital news and the [COVID-19 pandemic in India](/source/COVID-19_pandemic_in_India), with the hope of restoring publication in a different format in the future.<ref>{{Cite web |last= |first= |date=2021-05-27 |title=Goa Today magazine to pause publication from May 31 |url=https://www.heraldgoa.in/goa/goa-today-magazine-to-pause-publication-from-may-31/175376 |access-date=2025-03-03 |website=Herald Goa |language=en}}</ref>
