'''Giulio Mazzoni''' (1525–1618) was an Italian painter and stuccoist, active during the [Renaissance](/source/Renaissance) period. He helped decorate the [Palazzo Spada](/source/Palazzo_Spada). He also painted a canvas of the ''Four Evangelists'' for the [Cathedral of Piacenza](/source/Piacenza_Cathedral).

One of the major works in his oeuvre is the [Theodoli Chapel](/source/Theodoli_Chapel_(Santa_Maria_del_Popolo)) in the [Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo](/source/Basilica_of_Santa_Maria_del_Popolo) which is a gem of Roman [Mannerism](/source/Mannerism). Mazzoni was commissioned by Traiano Alicorni in 1555 to decorate his chapel in the basilica. The work was restarted by a new patron, Girolamo Theodoli, the Bishop of [Cádiz](/source/C%C3%A1diz) after 1569 and finished around 1575.<ref>Patrizia Tosini: La cappella Alicorni Theodoli e la decorazione di Giulio Mazzoni da Piacenza, in I. He was probably related to the sculptor [Guido Mazzoni](/source/Guido_Mazzoni_(sculptor)).
