**Gipsy Lane Pit** is a 0.5 hectares (1.2 acres) geological [Site of Special Scientific Interest](/source/Site_of_Special_Scientific_Interest) in [Leicester](/source/Leicester).[1][2] It is a [Geological Conservation Review](/source/Geological_Conservation_Review) site.[3]

This site is important to geologists for its [Triassic](/source/Triassic) stratigraphy, and to mineralogists as it is rich in [sulphides](/source/Sulphide), some of which are unidentified and imperfectly understood compounds. [Natural England](/source/Natural_England) describes the site's interest as "unique in Britain, and possibly internationally".[4]

The site is private land with no public access.
