The '''Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly''' ('''GBA'''), formerly known as '''Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly''' ('''GBLA'''), is a [unicameral](/source/unicameral) legislature of elected representatives of the Pakistani territory (''de facto'' [province](/source/Pakistani_province)) of [Gilgit-Baltistan](/source/Gilgit-Baltistan) which is located in [Jutial](/source/Jutial) neighbourhood in the city of [Gilgit](/source/Gilgit), the capital of [Gilgit-Baltistan](/source/Gilgit-Baltistan). 

It was established under the [Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Governance Order](/source/Government_of_Gilgit-Baltistan) in 2009 which granted the region self-rule and an [elected](/source/elections_in_Gilgit-Baltistan) [legislature](/source/legislative_assembly), having a total of 33 seats, with 24 general seats, 6 seats reserved for women and 3 reserved for [Technocrats](/source/Technocrats) and [Professionals](/source/Professionals).

The third [Gilgit-Baltistan Elections](/source/2020_Gilgit-Baltistan_Assembly_election) was held on 15 November 2020.

== History ==
The Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly was formed as a part of the Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Governance Order in 2009 which granted the region self-rule and an elected legislative assembly.<ref>{{cite web|last=Shigri|first=Manzar|url=https://www.reuters.com/article/us-pakistan-election-idUSTRE5AB1ZE20091112|title=Pakistan's disputed Northern Areas go to polls|publisher=Reuters|date=November 12, 2009}}</ref> The first Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections were held on 12 November 2009 which [Pakistan Peoples Party](/source/Pakistan_Peoples_Party) won by 20 seats.
