**Gilbert Glaus** (born 3 December 1955) is a retired Swiss professional [road bicycle racer](/source/Road_bicycle_racer). In 1978, Glaus became amateur world champion, and he became a professional cyclist in 1982. In 1983, Glaus won a stage in the [1983 Tour de France](/source/1983_Tour_de_France), but in the [1984 Tour de France](/source/1984_Tour_de_France) he was the [Lanterne rouge](/source/Lanterne_rouge) (the last finishing cyclist). He was the [Swiss National Road Race champion](/source/Swiss_National_Road_Race_Championships) in 1982.[1] He also competed in the [individual road race](/source/Cycling_at_the_1980_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_individual_road_race) and [team time trial](/source/Cycling_at_the_1980_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_team_time_trial) events at the [1980 Summer Olympics](/source/1980_Summer_Olympics).[2]
