# Gilbert Bettman

**Gilbert Bettman** (October 3, 1881 – July 17, 1942) was an [American](/source/United_States_of_America) politician of the [Ohio](/source/Ohio) [Republican party](/source/United_States_Republican_Party).

From 1919 to 1929, he was on the faculty, and then the dean of the YMCA Law School of Cincinnati, now the [Salmon P. Chase College of Law](/source/Salmon_P._Chase_College_of_Law) at [Northern Kentucky University](/source/Northern_Kentucky_University).[1]

In 1932, Bettman ran for the office of [U.S. senator](/source/United_States_Senate) from [Ohio](/source/Ohio). He lost to the incumbent [Democrat](/source/United_States_Democratic_Party), [Robert J. Bulkley](/source/Robert_J._Bulkley).[2][3]

From January 1941 to July 1942, Bettman served as a justice of the [Ohio Supreme Court](/source/Ohio_Supreme_Court).[4]
