**Gilbert Raymond English** (July 2, 1909 – August 31, 1996) was an American professional [baseball](/source/Baseball) [third baseman](/source/Third_baseman). He played in [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) (MLB) for the [New York Giants](/source/New_York_Giants_(NL)), [Detroit Tigers](/source/Detroit_Tigers), [Boston Bees](/source/Boston_Bees), and [Brooklyn Dodgers](/source/Brooklyn_Dodgers) between 1931 and 1944.[1]

In 240 games over six seasons, English posted a .245 [batting average](/source/Batting_average_(baseball)) (194-for-791) with 75 [runs](/source/Run_(baseball)), 8 [home runs](/source/Home_runs), 90 [RBIs](/source/RBIs) and 56 [bases on balls](/source/Bases_on_balls).
